      I'm running (the YJ) a Ford 8.8 limited slip rear and D30 Spartan locker front with the CAD collar locked in place with hose clamps. Some people talk smack about the hose clamp mod but I've been running it for years like that with no issues. I'll eventually do the solid axle swap when I feel froggy but the hose clamps work fine so I haven't been in any rush.

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts 7 днів тому

      There is a plastic bushing below where the shifter bolts into the transmission, it could be worn. Its pretty easy to replace. Just unbolt the 4 bolts holding the shifter to the transmission. Pick up the shifter from the transmission you sill see the bushing. Unsnap the old ... snap on the new and reinstall the shifter and boots.

    Word-- SPLIT LOOM for ALL wires running under the trailer. The wiring insulation is never meant to be a wear barrier. That job belongs to the split loom.

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts 16 днів тому

      I know what split loom is. I've got rolls of a few different sizes. Split loom works great under the hood where everything is protected. I have severed split loom with sharp metal cutting it. Split loom allows water, mud and other debris inside the split. I want to throw junk cars, Jeeps, motorcycles, raw steel supplies ... whatever ... on it and get the job done. I'm going after a YJ frame in the morning. That trailer has been dragged through many grown up fields to get cars and lots of other beat up junk. I've had sticks snatch the wiring harness from under it while in split loom. I don't want to have to baby it looking after some thin plastic cover. Running the wires through tough flexible tubing allows sealing each end to protect it. The thick tubing protects it from cuts and abrasion. Thick tubing can be clamped solidly to the frame with metal cable clamps. I use split loom inside the interior, under dash, or even under the hood where it is pampered and protected. Not under my trailer or my Jeeps where they are subjected to rocks, sticks, water, mud and who knows what else. But .. thanks for the suggestion and thanks for checking out the video.

    • @research903
      @research903 16 днів тому

      @@Poweraddicts I recently rewired mine and actually ran the wiring through electrical conduit bolted tightly to the frame. I had the luxury of setting the trailer on its side to better access everything. Put a new floor on it, too. Treated the wood with a used oil/desiel mixture before installing. The old pressure treated wood only lasted about 5 years. Good luck with the YJ.

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts 15 днів тому

      @@research903 I've got about 80 feet of electrical conduit. I needed my trailer asap so I really didn't have time to do that. That is a very good idea, it would protect the wiring very well. I want to add one accessory fuse box for leds and such, if I have it connected from the battery, will it drain my battery when lights are not in use? Sorry if it's a stupid question.

      Nope .. its a very good question. If you put the LEDs on the "switched" circuit it shouldn't drain your battery. If you wire the "constant on" fuse block you will have to add switches to your LEDs to prevent draining the battery. Hope this helps!!

    This is great for separating switched and constant power. Would you use dedicated relays for the different accessories as needed?

      You can just keep the total load in mind to prevent adding too much to this added circuit.

    Thanks for the great video. I recently purchased a 92 YJ 2.5L for $300 that had been sitting for some years because some bozo tried to steal it and broke the barrel lock. I repaired that and have begun trying to bring this old rig back to life. I replaced plugs, wires, cap & rotor etc. I also siphoned a bunch of old bad gas out of the tank but would like to do this to get it really empty. I set this up using your instructions and it worked great for about 15 seconds before the fuel pump quit pumping. I'm still getting power at the 30 pin, but no action at the pump. Any idea what I am doing wrong? maybe the fuel pump is flaking out? I'd love your insight before I drop the tank and swap a pump for no good reason. The sender does not appear to be working so maybe the pump/sender unit is kaput?? Thank for any guidance.

    My Speedo was squeaking, badly. I just took it apart and greased it up. Noise went away.

    This is exactly what I needed. I was stressing over having to recharge my a.c. This made my day. Thank you
